The Spice Girls: A Tribute

It was a hot, summer afternoon. We (my cousin and I) hear a familiar voice on the radio. Then… a tune very beloved is what we hear! We jump up and dance along with it. You just walked in; I make you smile; It’s cool but you don’t even know me.

If there’s one childhood memory I would never forget, that would be the one I just mentioned. The Spice Girls were the love of our lives as children (and maybe, until now). I remember times wherein we would make trips to 7-11 in the afternoon just to buy those lollipop with free Spice Girls stickers in them. How we loved to collect those! We sticked those in our notebooks which leads to our classmates’ (and sometimes, our techers’) envy the next day.

I also a remember endless bouts between my cousin and I because of Baby Spice. She wanted Baby Spice but I wanted Baby Spice as well! Now, I found it totally stupid because Posh Spice was only my second option back then and if only I made her my first one before, I would have been proud to say that I already loved Victoria Beckham before the rest of the world and their mothers did.

I was very devastated when I heard the news that Ginger Spice (aka Geri Halliwell) left the group, which led to the separation of the group, overall. Lucky for me (and everyone else), they went back together again! I was actually hoping that they’ll reach Hong Kong or Singapore in their World Tour so that I could just fly in there to watch, but they didn’t so I was quite disappointed. :(

Up to now, the legacy that the Spice Girls left still lives with me. Just before this school year ended, we had a class concert and I made it a point that at least one Spice Girls song was included in the line-up, and thank God it was because my plan B is take over the world!

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have to download the Victoria Secret 2008 show because the Spice Girls are there (seriously, I really need to download it).

PS: This is my participating post for Amanda’s brilliant idea!

Hehe about the Spice Girls! You know… I don’t remember EXACTLY when all of that happened, only that it happened. LOL. I guess I didn’t LOVE them as much, but I did like them. They’re ok now still. LOL.

lol, i liked the spice girls too as much as i hate to admit it. they were so much fun.

it’s kinda sad actually. that there’s no more awesome pop groups like there used to be. old school back street boys, spice girls, take that, those were the days.
