Is It Worth It?
Upon logging in into the admin panel today, I see a strip on top of every page saying “WordPress 2.6 is available! Please update now.” Some of you may have already upgraded, some of you may haven’t.
I know that I’ve ranted quite recently about how WordPress was being so bloated. However, I’ve been too much of busy nowadays to switch CMSs (which will probably explain the six blogless days).
So, is it worth the upgrade?

I did the Automatic Upgrade (thanks plugin!), and can’t tell any difference. Course, I don’t acually pay much attention to the system, as long as I can “Write Post” and “Check Comments”.

I can’t say too much as I only have one on my local server. The difference isn’t that much, but some things are new. Like the way how the permalink is on the edit page, the revisions.
I would upgrade just to get rid of the annoying banner.

I haven’t noticed much of a change and the only reason I upgrade is because of the security fixes. I would have switched CMSes too but I also can’t find the time and the patience to do so.

There is not much of difference. But, the major thing that I notice is the theme-viewer. I probably won’t use it that much, but it is just fantastically put together.
So, you decide.
Or, as Amanda said, use the plugin and the entire installation with be easier. ;P

I didn’t notice anything different lately, I didn’t pay much attention to the new features…

I’ve been too busy to even update it because I KNOW that my stuff will probably break, so I don’t have time to fix it just yet…

Ugh! I hate how WordPress comes out with an update every week! It took AGES for me to upgrade to WP 2.5… so I’ll probably put it off until WP 3.0 comes out =P
On a similar note, I kind of regret the moment I switched to WP… sure, it seemed like a great idea at the time, but it’s really just taking up space, and holding me back from designs! I’d switch again to something lighter if I weren’t so scared of ruining my content and having all of my old posts disappear!

Google Gears has got me loving WP 2.6.
It’s so much faster!

I updated using the Automatic Update plugin, and I’m not sure if that’s the reason WordPress is acting up on me. I haven’t noticed if it’s faster or not, but it does have some kind of bug. It makes me log in every single time I go to the admin panel, even if it’s the same browser. My cookies are on, and I check the “remember me” button, but it’s no good. It makes me log in, even if I navigate to another page and back in the same browser. O_O It drives me nuts.
I hate updating so often. I’m sure they’ll be releasing a newer version soon.

I haven’t updated yet, I probably will today or tomorrow.

I’m waiting for my host to do it for me haha -is lazy-
Sometimes i’m afraid of updates because every! single! time! One of my plugins/layout tweaks goes horribly wrong. Yikes! Let us know how it went for you!

It seems like every time I turn around there is a new update to WP.
I understand the need for upgrades, but I honestly find it annoying. With that said, I just tried to upgrade on Sunday, and my site pretty much died.
I had to re-install an older version to get my site back. I tried to upgrade a second time, and it told me it upgraded, however, I still have the “WordPress 2.6 is available! Please update now” message so I guess it really didn’t work. It lied.
