Formal Party Fail
We were invited by a family friend to surprise birthday party for their relative in their province (which is around 1-2 hours from our house, depending on traffic). My family, being very good friends with their family, decided to go, thinking of al fresco dining with a view of the mountain or maybe the lake. Upon arriving the location, we were welcomed very warmly by the said friends, some of them who just came home from the US just for the said festivities.
But wait, they’re in cocktail dresses.
Ok, I thought they were just a bit overdressed, but when we entered the function room, oh my, (almost) everyone was wearing cocktail dresses and dress shirts. And I was wearing a v-neck shirt, white shorts and Chucks (thank God as I was thisClose to wearing flip-flops). To make things worse, we were asked to sit in the front table. In the end though, it was ok as some also arrived in a similar attire and the hosts forgot to pick-up the invitations so they all just made calls and sent text messages to inform people.
What would you have done if you were in a case like this? I, of course, just held my head up high and acted as if nothing was wrong.

I would’ve feel a bit uncomfortable at first but than laugh it all away and enjoy the party.
Lucky for you you didn’t wear those flip-flops.

Oh man!!! WOW! I’ve never experienced that before, and I hope I never will! I’m sorry that you had to go through that, but I’m glad that it wasn’t so bad in the end!!

Random thought, but I’m a loyal fan of Rainbow sandals because they are unbelievably amazing! I adore the leather ones because they mold to your feet. They are so well designed and I hope to get some for my kid. Maybe I can spring them on her as a premature birthday present. Keep up the great work. Excellent post!
