Keeping Your PC Safe
Not all are given the gift to understand their computer deep down and know their needs (pure geekiness is an essential requirement, dear). Fortunately, some people are given enough geekiness to understand the needs of a computer. So, if you’re one of those persons that lack that geekiness I’m talking about, worry not! Help is here! Let’s get started, shall we?
First, I need you to tell me if you have any P2P programs such as Kazaa, LimeWire and eMule? If yes, there might be quite a higher possibility that you have some spyware on your computer. Why? Because not all of the sources of the files you download from these programs are reliable. Some songs may even be infected with a virus, for God’s sake! So, before you open the file that you downloaded, make sure you scan it first with a trusty anti-virus. I personally recommend that you use Avast! Home Edition anti-virus because it’s free, very reliable and a lot of people recommend it too.
Next, you should know if the browser you are using has a strong security that doesn’t allow spyware and viruses to pass through. Using Internet Explorer? Goodness! You don’t know what kind of danger it can bring to your computer! All kinds of spyware pass through Internet Explorer! So, I suggest that you get a new web browser, a safer one, such as Mozilla Firefox, Opera, Safari For Windows and Flock. I have personally tried these browsers and I do not have any bad encounters with them — so do millions of others.
You should also have some programs that keep your computer free from bad things. And what are these things I’m talking about? An anti-virus, anti-spyware and a firewall. Now, you might be thinking the expenses in getting these software. Here’s the answer: $0.00. Yes, totally free! I mean, who says that free stuff is crap?! Not me! Actually, all of the aforementioned software that are installed on my computer are free. I use Avast! Home Edition as an anti-virus, Ad-Aware SE and Spybot Search and Destroy as an anti-spyware and Comodo Personal Firewall as (couldn’t be anymore obvious) my firewall. All of these software are completely free and are used and recommended by me.
So, I hope that you learned a thing or two in keeping your PC safe and I hope the best for (state your computer’s name) [Naming technology = total geekiness]!
